On Sunday, April 28, 2019, Oakland Tech Rowing will have its second annual ERG-A-Thon, the team’s largest fundraising event of the year, where each rower will be competing in small teams and logging over 10,000 meters on a rowing machine! The ERG-A-Thon is a testament to this phenomenal team of athletes who aren’t afraid to work hard and excel at this sport. (Read the full ERG-A-Thon Fundraising Letter.)
Oakland Tech Rowing is one of only three public high school rowing programs west of the Mississippi. Our team is graciously sponsored by the East Bay Rowing Club (EBRC), which shares their coaches, support, and equipment; we receive no funding from the Oakland Unified School District. OTR’s regular program fees, however, do not adequately cover funding for the cost of boats, oars, coaching, travel and other equipment, plus extending scholarships to ANY Oakland Tech student who wants to row. We must therefore rely on contributions from our parents, friends, and family to ensure that our doors remain open to ALL students.
To support Oakland Tech Rowing, please select one — or more — of the following three options below. Note: On the PayPal payment site, please tell us the name(s) of the rower(s) you are sponsoring.
- To sponsor a rower or to make a personal donation of any amount:
- To make a lasting impression, give $250 to have your family’s name permanently sealed on one, two, three, or more Oakland Tech Rowing oars ($250 per oar):
- To make the greatest impact, donate $5,000 to have your family’s name permanently sealed on an Oakland Tech Rowing boat:
Alternatively, you can write a check for any amount payable to East Bay Rowing Club and mail it to:

Note: If you are making a donation in honor of one of our rowers, please write his/her/their name(s) on the memo line of your check.
